Skylights & Roof Ventilation Sydney
Natural light and airflow through the roof — skylight installation and roof ventilation for Sydney homes that run hot, dark or damp.
Why Choose Us
Skylights & Roof Ventilation You Can Trust
Daylight without heat gain
Modern glazing brings light in without turning the room below into a greenhouse the way older acrylic domes did.
A cooler roof cavity
Correctly sized and positioned ventilation pulls hot air out at the ridge and draws cooler air in at the eaves.
Flashed by roofers
The unit rarely fails. The flashing around it does. We detail the junction as part of the roof, not as an accessory bolted onto it.
Warning Signs
Signs You Need Skylights & Roof Ventilation
Don't ignore these warning signs — small issues left untreated almost always turn into costly repairs. If you notice any of the following, contact us for a free inspection.
A roof does more than keep water out. It controls how much daylight reaches the rooms underneath and how much heat and moisture builds up in the cavity above them. Get either wrong and you feel it — a hallway that needs a light on at midday, or a roof space that sits at 60°C-plus through a Sydney February and cooks the insulation you paid for.
Skylights and roof ventilation are the two levers. Both involve cutting into a working roof, which is exactly why they should be done by roofers rather than treated as an add-on. A skylight is a hole in your waterproofing; what stops it leaking in ten years' time is the flashing detail around it, not the unit itself.
All work is carried out under NSW Building Licence 471250C, covered by $20M public liability and backed by our 10-year workmanship guarantee.
Common Questions
Skylights & Roof Ventilation FAQs
Will a skylight make the room hotter?
A modern glazed unit is far better than the old acrylic domes, but orientation still matters. A north or west-facing skylight gains more heat than a south-facing one, and we will tell you if the position you want is going to cause you problems.
How many roof vents do I need?
As a working rule, one whirlybird or ridge vent per 50 m² of roof area, positioned high with matching intake at the eaves. Vents without intake do very little — air has to come from somewhere.
Can skylights be added to any roof?
Most tile and metal roofs, yes. The limits are usually framing and cavity depth rather than the roof covering. We check before quoting.
