Terracotta Tile Roof Restoration — Epping

About This Project

Full terracotta tile roof restoration on a 1960s family home in Epping. The original tiles had lost their factory glaze, the ridge mortar had failed across the roofline, and the box gutters showed accumulated debris and surface corrosion. Crown Roofers carried out a complete documentation pass, then pressure-cleaned the entire roof, replaced cracked tiles, fully re-bedded and re-pointed every ridge and hip with flexible pointing, primed the surface and applied two coats of premium heat-reflective acrylic membrane. Existing solar panels were removed, the roof underneath restored, and panels reinstalled with new mounts.

The Challenge

Roof-mounted solar panels added significant complexity — temporary panel removal and reinstallation had to be coordinated with the homeowner's electrical contractor and timed around the membrane curing schedule. The valley gutters had decades of leaf-litter compaction beneath the metal that required a complete strip and re-flash before any tile work could begin.

The Outcome

A revitalised charcoal terracotta tile roof completed across the scheduled work window. Solar panels back online with no production loss. The acrylic membrane carries a 15-year warranty and dramatically improved the home's street appeal — a dated red-orange roof now reads as a modern dark-charcoal feature line against the Epping leafy backdrop.
